Sam Weber

Sam Weber is an award-winning tap dancer, choreographer, and educator whose influence spans the international tap dance community. A protégé of tap master Stan Kahn, Weber served as a principal dancer and choreographer with the Jazz Tap Ensemble from 1986–2009, performing throughout the United States and abroad.


Over his career, he has taught and performed alongside legendary artists including Charles “Honi” Coles, Jimmy Slyde, Gregory Hines, and the Nicholas Brothers. Weber is one of the few tap dancers in the world to perform Morton Gould’s Tap Dance Concerto and was the first tap dancer to receive New York’s prestigious Bessie Award for outstanding artistic achievement.

His many honors include the Isadora Duncan Award for sustained achievement, the Juba Award from the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, the Hoofers Award from the American Tap Dance Foundation, and lifetime achievement awards from several leading tap organizations.


In addition to his performing career, Weber has taught at UCLA, California State University campuses, and San Francisco State University. He continues to teach and mentor dancers while remaining a highly respected figure in the global tap dance community.
