Are you a tap dancer in the midwest/Chicago area, looking to build your authentic tap dancing skills with a dedicated group? Expand those abilities for a professional career in tap with weekly training? Learn then perform new progressive tap dance works, as well as repertory, and elevate your improvisational journey?!
Come audition and join Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s professional performance company, Stone Soup Rhythms!
Where: Mayfair Arts Center 8701 S. Bennett Ave., Studio 3
When: Sunday, September 17th 1pm-4pm
Ages: 16 and up
If auditioning by video: Please send video of yourself performing choreography and then improvising. 3 minutes maximum for both videos. Send your videos or video links to info@chicagotap.org and include your name, age, bio and professional resume if applicable. Subject title: SSR audition (name)
SSR description:
Stone Soup Rhythms (SSR), the resident ensemble of the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, is a collective of emerging and established tap dance artists who bend time and space to make new work! The name Stone Soup Rhythms refers to a folktale in which a wayfaring stranger brings a small village together to create a communal feast, by enticing each member to add a unique ingredient.
SSR connects the ancient and sacred roots of percussive dance to the contemporary essence of personal expression and innovation, to create a feast of sound and movement.
Positions!
Company level tap dancer: $15/hr rehearsal fee, plus performance pay, carte blanche complimentary enrollment in CHRP's annual summer festival, Rhythm World
Apprentice level tap dancer: Free training and performance opportunities, leading to company role, carte blanche complimentary enrollment in CHRP's annual summer festival, Rhythm World

2023-2024: Learn and perform current repertoire and repertory. Begin rehearsals for premiering tap dance work.
