Classes
Since 1988, Chicago Human Rhythm Project has empowered artists and communities to express culture and identity through rhythm and percussive arts.
We offer a variety of educational classes and programs for students of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels.
Rhythm World
RHYTHM WORLD is the oldest and largest festival of American tap dance in the world. Presented annually in June and July, Rhythm World brings together students from around Chicago and the globe to study with the greatest living masters of the art form and to enjoy nightly performances by students and masters alike.
Recognized internationally as the “mother ship” of American tap, Rhythm World has led the development of a global culture of more than 70 festivals in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and South America.
Book A Class
This January, CHRP will close its dance/arts incubator - the American Rhythm Center in the Fine Arts Building - and reopen in our very own new home - the MAYFAIR ARTS CENTER - or MAC - in Calumet Heights. This move will not only allow CHRP to expand our own services and programs, but also to honor the 63+ year legacy of Tommy and Peggy Sutton's Mayfair Academy - a true South Side institution. The MAC will serve more independent artists, more small to medium-sized dance companies and more children, teens, adults and elders - through classes, performances and business development services.
Stay tuned for class announcements!
