Nicholas Young
Nicholas Young is a New York-based dancer, musician, choreographer, and educator best known for his nine-year tenure with the Off-Broadway sensation STOMP, where he performed leading roles and served as rehearsal director for the American tour.
Young began his professional career at age 16 with Austin’s Tapestry Dance Company, eventually becoming principal dancer and resident choreographer. He received Austin Critics Council Awards for Best Male Dancer and Best Choreography and has since performed with renowned companies and artists including Dorrance Dance, Manhattan Tap, Jared Grimes, and Sarah and Leela Petronio. An accomplished musician and percussionist, Young has toured internationally with Cyro Baptista’s Beat the Donkey and indie-pop artist Darwin Deez. His original music has also been featured in the documentary Tap or Die.
Young founded the New York-based company SoundMovement, creating innovative works that blend dance, rhythm, and sound. He is currently on faculty at Broadway Dance Center and regularly teaches at festivals worldwide, sharing his expertise in tap dance and body percussion.
