Jason Janas
Jason Janas is a tap dancer, choreographer, and educator known for his dynamic teaching and performance career. Originally from New Jersey, he began training under Deborah Mitchell and became a founding member of the New Jersey Tap Ensemble before continuing his studies with the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble.
After high school, Janas joined Austin’s Tapestry Dance Company under the direction of Acia Gray, where he spent five years as a principal dancer. His professional breakthrough came when he joined Derick Grant’s acclaimed production Imagine Tap! in Chicago. His performance credits also include Souls of Our Feet, Wonderland, and Tap Stars, which he co-choreographed alongside Rasta Thomas. Throughout his career, Janas has performed and taught across the United States, Canada, Europe, South America, and Russia.
A dedicated educator, he currently teaches with Wild Dance Convention and West Coast Dance Explosion and is a frequent guest artist at tap festivals worldwide. Janas remains passionate about preserving and sharing the rich traditions of tap dance through performance, education, and mentorship.
