Current Outreach Programs


St. Sabina Academy
Chicago, IL (Auburn Gresham)
Martin "Tre" Dumas leads a tap residency program for 1st - 7th graders at this Chicago academy.  The program at St. Sabina Academy has grown and now includes a class for beginners and a class for returning students.





Bronzeville Lighthouse Charter School
Chicago, IL (Bronzeville)
This addition to CHRP's residencies, Bronzeville Lighthouse Charter School began its tap residency in September 2011.  Led by Starinah "Star" Dixon and Jumaane Taylor, this program serves one hundred 3rd and 4th graders annually.



University of Chicago
Tap Club
Chicago, IL (Hyde Park)
The University of Chicago's tap club began in the Fall of 2008 and is led by Kristi Burris, an ensemble member and Associate Director of CHRP's resident ensemble BAM!  CHRP works with this student organization to help provide free tap classes to the students at the University of Chicago.



Paul Revere Elementary
Chicago, IL (Greater Grand Crossing)
Having been in progress for more than 6 years now, this annual after school tap dance program is led by Nico Rubio and continues to be sucessful in enriching the lives of 1st-4th graders.



"We All Got Rhythm"

BAM!'s lecture demonstration, now in its 5th year, showcases the best in tap and percussive dance and teaches that rhythm is an innate form of human expression that can be found in every culture throughout the world. 




"Super 7 Girls" at
Willa Cather Elementary
Chicago, IL
The newest addition to CHRP's residencies, the Super 7 Girls program at Willa Cather Elementary School began its tap residency in January 2013.  Led by Starinah "Star" Dixon, the program is a part of a series that teaches a group of girls their "super powers" -- the arts and tap dance being one of them!
