Kristi Burris


A Sapulpa, OK native, Kristi has been dancing professionally for eight years. Kristi became a performing member of Especially Tap Chicago in 2000 under the direction of Julie Cartier. She is currently a Co-Director of BAM!, the Chicago Human Rhythm Project's performing ensemble that began in 2004 under the direction of Lane Alexander, where she started as a founding company member. Through BAM!, Kristi has had the opportunity to perform at such places as The International Dance Festival (Beijing, China), Jazz On Tap (San Antonio, TX), Jubilate at the Harris Theatre (Chicago, IL) and at the Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago's Millennium Park, among others. In 2006, she was chosen to work with Lou Conte on his tribute piece to Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. In addition to performing, Kristi has taught at Lou Conte School of Dance and is currently teaching at The Tap Studio in Chicago. She can also be found teaching master class workshops throughout the United States. Kristi can be seen in a PBS documentary highlighting Fayard Nicholas.
